The Fondazione Accademia Carrara di Bergamo (hereinafter the Foundation) is a private-law entity established on 25 June 2015 with the aim of promoting and enhancing public use of the artistic, historical and cultural heritage of the Accademia Carrara of Bergamo. In addition, it has the mission of ‘promoting the study of the fine arts to the benefit of the Country and Posterity’, in the words of its founder Count Giacomo Carrara.
The Foundation endeavours to be a centre of advanced study for those humanistic, historical, philological and scientific disciplines with a connection to art, working together with cultural institutes, museums, foundations, academies, universities and other national and international entities, including with the aim of developing synergies and forms of collaboration for high culture.
In accordance with the spirit that underlay the founding of the historical Accademia by Count Giacomo Carrara, the Foundation is the not-for-profit institution entrusted with managing the Accademia Carrara to the end of enhancing and preserving its heritage.
Article 15 of the Foundation’s current Statute specifies that the Board of Directors shall nominate the Museum Director, or, if it prefers, a Museum Director and General Manager of the Foundation, upon a proposal made by the President. At the time of the nomination, the Board of Directors shall determine the duration, responsibilities and the character of the positions.
Having taken note of the positive experience of the current organisational structure, the Board of Directors has confirmed its decision to nominate a Museum Director and a General Manager of the Foundation. It has further determined that the position of Museum Director will begin on 1 February 2024 and will have a duration of four years.
